Oh, Monday. Why do you always have to show up? This morning was quite a doozy…sleeping way past my alarm to get up and get to school early, then pouring old milk into my much-desired coffee and cereal only to have it curdle on me, and rushing around all morning to get ready to go! But, once I got to school, I felt better, and the day progressed well!
If you didn’t see yesterday’s post, I’m on a photo a day journey, to capture at least one picture each day and share it up on the blog. Click here to see my day one photo!
We are in the midst of a Space Unit for science in my first grade classroom! We have talked about the sun, researched the different planets, and are now focused on Earth. I’ve been using activities from Jodi Southard‘s and Stephanie Trapp‘s awesome space units, as well as creating some of my own.
Today, we learned about rotation and revolution, and how the sun and planets all rotate, the planets revolve around the sun, and the moon revolves around earth. We got our bodies up and moving by acting it out!
Everyone got to take turns acting out either the planet or the sun (or Earth and Moon). Pictured is Joash, as the sun, and Lisa as Earth. She did a great job doing both things at once ;).
What fun have you been up to today? I know a lot of the U.S. is covered in snow; how I wish we could have a snow day too! Enjoy it!
Also, are you wanting a change of pace and lifestyle? The school I teach for, Hope International School, is looking for more teachers for next school year! Find more information here!
Much Love, Allie
