I am a lover of travel- whether it is a road trip across my state, or a voyage across the world. I first discovered my love for travel very young. My parents would always make an effort to make family vacations a priority. Family vacations have taken us from the beaches of Hawaii to Disneyworld, from the campgrounds of Wisconsin to our nation’s capitol, and everywhere in between.

But when I really discovered my longing to travel the world? That was in Bogota, Colombia, on a summer missions trip in 2009. Not only was it my first missions trip, it was also my first time out of the country (besides hopping over to Canada for a day to get chocolate!) and the first time I was blessed to be able to break out of the First World bubble. Every moment since then, my desire to travel has grown.

In the summer of 2011, I traveled to a tiny country in West Africa called Togo, and had my heart break open even further for the people of the world, and it fanned the flame of travel and missions in my heart. This is why I call myself, The Gypsy Teacher. Because I know in my spirit that my life will not always be in Omaha, Nebraska, or even in the USA.
I love this picture so much- myself with a bunch of adorable African kids, after a kids service! |
With that said, the season of life I’m in right now, places me here- in the Midwest where I am fortunate to have way to many things than I could ever need. And as my heart is ready to travel, my season of life is not. So instead, I thought I might start this Tuesday link up. To share the places I have been, and add to my passport bucket list of the places I want to go! I would love for you to link up any post you have written about a place you have traveled, or anything with on the subject of travel and missions! I love the blog world because we can share our experiences with each other, and that is what I hope this link up will be!
I can’t wait to read your travel adventures, and to write out mine to share with you! I thought I might kick off this link-up with this little summary of my heart and mind behind my love for travel, though throughout the different Tuesdays, I will share more of each trip!
Also, if YOU love to travel, missions, or have traveled, I would love to have a co-host or two to get the word out about this link-up! Email me at allieelliott@yahoo.com or comment below!
