One of my favorite parts of summer is the yummy flavors it brings! One of my favorite non-coffee summer drinks from Starbucks is the Passion Lemonade. It’s basically a mix between their Tazo Passion Iced Tea and lemonade. So simple, yet so refreshing and delicious! Not to mention, it’s a bright pink color! The only thing I can’t live with is the price. So I ventured to create my own version!
What you will need:
Lemonade (I used store-bought Simply Lemonade)
Tazo Passion Tea (I used hot, because it’s what I had, but you can use iced too)
Ice Cube Tray (preferably in cute shapes! 🙂
Ice
A fun glass (or mason jar) and Bendy Straw
Start by making the Passion Tea. Boil about a cup or two of water, and then steep the tea bags for 5 minutes. You want to make the tea very concentrated, so for the cup and a half I made, I used 3 hot tea bags. Double the amount of tea bags per oz on the box.
Once the tea is steeped, pour it into the ice cube tray. I found the cutest heart-shaped tray at the Target Dollar Spot! It was perfect!
I always put it on a tray or plate, especially if it is a bendable tray like mine was, and then pop it in the freezer for a few hours, or as long as you want. I made my Passion Lemonade a day or so later. Once your tea cubes are frozen, remove them from the freezer and the tray. Pour your lemonade in a glass over ice, and add in those Passion Tea cubes! Stir and let the cubes melt a bit before enjoying your delicious and refreshing summer drink!
I love the hearts in the drink; so much fun!
Price Comparison:
Starbucks Grande Passion Tea Lemonade: around $4
DIY Passion Tea Lemonade: $1 for the ice tray, $.25 for the tea, $.75 for the lemonade= $2 plus you get way more than 16 ounces! Well worth the time and effort! And, to be able to enjoy it in a picture perfect mason jar, priceless!
Also, for parties, you could make tons of these Iced Tea Cubes for a fun summer drink for everyone! Drink up some summertime!
